Gwinnett County Police College Campus Connect Program Launches with Dynamic Community Event

The Gwinnett County Police Department kicked off its new College Campus Connect program with an energetic and engaging event last night at the Gwinnett County Police Training Center. Between Community News was proudly in attendance and came away impressed by the scale and depth of the department’s outreach, as every division and department within Gwinnett County PD was represented.

The open house provided college students, professors, and community members with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at one of Georgia’s premiere police agencies. Each department—from Detectives, SWAT, and K-9 to Aviation, Motors, Training, 911 Communications, and more—had its own booth staffed by officers ready to answer questions and share insights about their specialized work. The event was designed to foster stronger relationships between law enforcement and local college communities, and to showcase the diverse career opportunities available in policing.

Attendees were treated to a series of live demonstrations that highlighted the department’s expertise and commitment to transparency. These included a dramatic demonstration in which a recruit was tazed, as well as driving demonstrations that showcased police pursuit techniques. The K-9 unit wowed the crowd with agility and detection displays, while the Aviation unit exhibited helicopters and drones, explaining their critical roles in search and rescue and surveillance operations. The SWAT and CSI teams displayed their advanced equipment and discussed the rigorous training and technology that support their missions.

The event’s interactive format allowed visitors to engage directly with officers from each division, ask detailed questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the work that goes into keeping Gwinnett County safe. Food, door prizes, and a welcoming atmosphere rounded out the evening, making it both informative and memorable for all who attended.

The College Campus Connect program’s successful launch signals the Gwinnett County Police Department’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, education, and partnership. Between Community News commends the department for its transparency, professionalism, and dedication to building bridges with the next generation of community leaders and public safety professionals.
