Newton County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Individuals for Questioning in Tuesday Night Assault

     On Tuesday, March 4, at approximately 8:25 p.m., a violent assault occurred at a residence off Lakeside Circle in Newton County, Georgia. Two unidentified assailants ambushed a man, leaving him with multiple gunshot wounds. The Newton County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) has since identified two persons of interest in connection with the incident: 16-year-old Nyshiem Smith and 15-year-old Trevion Campbell.

  • Time: The incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4.
  • Victim's Condition: The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds, but details regarding his identity and current health status have not been disclosed.
  • Nyshiem Smith: A 16-year-old male known to frequent areas in Newton and DeKalb counties. He often wears a mask and has black shoulder-length locs with blonde hair near the front.
  • Trevion Campbell: A 15-year-old male who is known to travel on foot and squat in abandoned houses. He frequents Newton, Rockdale, and DeKalb counties and also often wears a mask. Campbell is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 135 pounds, with brown eyes and black shoulder-length locs.

     Both Smith and Campbell are considered armed and dangerous. The public is advised not to approach them if spotted but to contact 911 immediately. The NCSO urges residents in the Fairview Estates and Highgate neighborhoods to review their surveillance footage from between 7:45 p.m. and 8:35 p.m. on the night of the incident for any suspicious activity.
